2012 AFL Season

The 2012 season is fast approaching and there have been a significant number of changes & information that I need to share.

AFL is to be played on Sundays in 2012 with the exception of under 16's which will continue on Friday nights.

Sundays means that players from other codes such as Soccer, Rugby & League will have the opportunity to play both codes. The AFL will be doing a significant amount of marketing around this and expect an increase in numbers, with this in mind I would like to offer all existing players returning to the club to download the rego form for 2012 from our website below and return to me either via email or post (Michael Murray PO Box 4128 Copacabana NSW 2251) to secure your place. We can sort the payments out either via Direct deposit or on rego day which at this stage is the 19th February.

Age groups for 2012, I have included the year of birth to be eligible for each age group:

All information will be posted here, you can easily subscribe to this site.

2. Like all clubs there are many positions vacant this year that need to be filled:

Coaches are required in 9's, 10's, 14's. We have coaches for 12's & 16's however if you would like to be considered for these teams please let me know.

I realize it is difficult to commit to Tuesdays at 4.30pm for coaching so if you are interested in coaching the team on game day then I can arrange some seniors to assist with Tuesdays (please let me know)

Canteen Manager - vacant

All other positions

Managers, Ground Manager, Time Keepers, Goal Umpires - I am going to leave this up to each team to organise this amongst the parents for home games. For the first couple of home games I will have one of our experienced parents show each team how to perform these game functions. (thanks Tony)

I am happy to communicate with all parents via email & sms for all club & game information in 2012 which will leave each the team manager free to organise canteen (when on duty), team sheets, organise balance of roles for home games.

3. Sponsorships: Our goal in 2012 is to have 1 sponsor per team. The sponsorship will cost $500 and will include advertising on our website and on all club emails. Please let me know if you would like to sponsor a team. In addition if you would like to sponsor any equipment or have any other ideas please let me know as all contributions are appreciated.

4. Auskick - This is to be run completely differently in 2012 with the AFL running the clinics at the schools in March and I understand they will be running games later in the season with all clubs meeting at one venue per week. The games will not be at the same venues as the other age groups. 

I would really appreciate anybody who can assist this year within the teams, canteen manager and on the rego days which I have pencilled in for the 19th & 26th February at Breakers CC (to be confirmed)
